San Alejo

Us siblings, Carlos and Mirna Alvarado emigrated to the U.S. carrying a vision of one day opening up our very own small restaurant. After several years of working in the downtown D.C. restaurant industry, and hard work and perseverance, San Alejo was established in 2016. San Alejo aims to provide an authentic connection of it's Salvadorean roots to the public of the DC/MD area.

From freshly made to-order Pupusas to refrescos, and everything else in between our main goal is to recreate the typical dishes we grew up on as children. We characterize our cooking style as simple and authentic, but most importantly casero (home-syle cooking). Whether you're craving an antojito salvadoreno or want to experience El Salvador's gastronomy we welcome our doors to you and hope to see you soon!

 Regards, Carlos and Mirna A.
